Objectives: This workshop is designed to examine an approach that is called “Lean” in the Japanese experience. The importance of this approach both as a philosophy and as a method of “operations planning and control” will be discussed. Lean consideration and elements as a radical departure from traditional operations practice will be clarified. The Kanban system will be described.  A comparison between Japanese and western experience will be thoroughly covered.

Who Should Attend? This workshop is intended for anyone interested in the Japanese experience and philosophy from both engineering and managerial aspects. Moreover, it is most suited for engineers working in production and management positions, and will also be very useful for engineers working in various industrial, planning and managerial sectors, general managers and postgraduate students in industrial engineering and engineering management.
