Below are the list of nominees with their vision and profile. The list is presented in alphabetical first name order.

Ali Albadri
Board of Trusee Candidate

My vision is for Al-Kindi to become a reference hub for attracting scientists and engineers of all levels. Giving the Iraqi engineers direct competent advice and services is an important goal. Opening opportunities to the Iraqi engineers to develop their experiences and skills in life projects. This is combined with transferring knowledge to Iraq through collaboration with organisations, companies, and universities in Iraqi.

I would like to be a member of board of Trustee to serve the Iraqi engineering community. I have already worked in different positions with Al-kindi and I would like to continue doing so. I have got long experience in engineering based on my background in mechanical, nuclear, materials science and structural designs. I worked at three universities and seven companies.  I am a Fellow member with three institutions in addition to being a Fellow of the Al-Kindi.

Hassan Mohamad
Board of Trusee Candidate

My aims for Al-kindi are to ensure that the organisation remains effective, listens to its members and delivers on policy / programmes that deliver their needs.  I strongly believe in a cooperative approach for Al-kindi and I am hoping to be able to deliver that as part of a robust and strategic team and partnership.

I currently lead Transport for London’s flagship Liveable Neighbourhoods programme. I am a Chartered Engineer with strong technical experience in the planning, development, Financial management and delivery of innovative sustainable transport, urban realm and road safety portfolios. I previously helped shape, design and deliver various projects that formed part of the 2012 Olympic Games on behalf of LB Newham and the Olympic Delivery Authority and delivered the highly commended (CIHT 2016, Innovation) England 2015 Rugby World Cup transport improvements. I hold a BEng in Civil Engineering and an MSc Project Management, and am Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport (FCIHT).

Haval Kadhem
Board of Trusee Candidate

As an engineering learned society, I believe that we have to embrace the transformation to a more agile and digital operation, where we offer value and benefit to our existing members and attract world class new fellow members.  If elected to the board of trustees, I would focus my efforts on transforming the membership offering of the Al-Kindi and work with my fellow trustees to put in place the value proposition to increase our fellowship class of membership. At the same time, I will be championing the increase of our outreach and community benefit programmes.

I work in innovation, leading and being part of diverse and multi-disciplined teams providing innovative solution to societal challenges. I have a bachelors in Engineering specialising in Electronics for aerospace applications. I hold a masters in Engineering management and strategic innovation. I am a member of the BCS, IET and the IEEE.

Kadhum Al Saraj
Board of Trusee Candidate

I have been working with Al-Kindi on the media & IT functions.  If Elected to the board of Trustee position, I would like to continue working on further developing the digital transformation of Al-Kindi and develop Al-Kindi society as brand with clearly defined value proposition to its esteemed members. I believe that Al-Kindi should embrace more digital technology across all levels of the society's operation.  I can share my expertise and experience in numerous design and development projects to find what makes Al-Kindi unique and communicate it to the world.

Kadhum is a serial entrepreneur with strong track record in successful Research and Development as well as new product innovations for the biomedical and energy sectors. Kadhum has strong background in IT and web technologies in addition to his other engineering expertise.

Suhair Al Thraa
Board of Trusee Candidate

I have been associated with Al-Kindi Society of Engineers for six years since joining as an executive member in 2014 and becoming a vice chair of public engagement. If elected to the board of Trustees, I would bring qualities of leadership and management experience in events & activities coordination, IT and Membership functions of the Society, and support Al-Kindi Society in its approach and strategy.

I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, and my employment has been in the field of Mechanical, Chemical, Artificial Intelligence, Management and Industrial engineering in research and projects both in the UK and Iraq.  If elected I would bring to the role of Trustee my broad experience of the industry and I have the skills to support Al-Kindi Society in its approach and strategy.

Usama Mohamad
Board of Trusee Candidate

I am currently a Trustee with Al-Kindi Society of Engineers and hold the post of treasurer - ensuring that the society’s finances are in a healthy state.  My points of strength are: corporate governance, decision-making, senior stakeholder management, financial management, leadership of matrix multi-disciplinary teams and technical knowledge.  I would like to support Al-Kindi Society of Engineers on a voluntary basis to benefit its audience and to add value and give back to society.


I am an engineer by background and hold a bachelor of engineering and a master of science in Civil Engineering. I am also a qualified project manager. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation. I currently work for Transport for London (TfL), within General Counsel, as a Project Assurance Manager. I work across TfL’s capital investment portfolio where I assure large projects and programmes and report independent advice to TfL executives and TfL Board’s programme investment sub-committee. Prior to this I worked as Project Sponsor for several years on major infrastructure projects in London. Before TfL I worked as a designer for AECOM on highway infrastructure schemes and Buro Happold on the design of the London 2012 Olympic Main Stadium.

Zaki Al-Tamimi

I have been a member of the Society for many years since the inception. I have served as member of the Board of Trustees in the past (2015-2017). I would like to serve the Society again and apply for one of the vacant positions on the board of Trustees as I feel the Society could benefit from my experience and expertise.  The Al-Kindi Society has been a foundation and support network to many aspiring and successful engineers.   My vision is to bring 45 years' experience in academia and industry, both nationally and internationally, to help and support our members grow and be recognised by peers and organisations.  We need to promote the innovation and quality that Iraqi engineers bring to the workplace, both here in the UK and overseas, with emphasis on helping to rebuild the rich heritage of world class education and industry back in Iraq.

A self-motivated, professional consultant at PhD level with a Scientific / Technical background (Nuclear Physics) and extensive experience in project management / consultancy in International Trade and Industry.
